Last week, BIS Abu Dhabi welcomed Salla Saarikangas, our Dance Specialist from Juilliard, to the school.

As part of The Juilliard Nord Anglia Education Performing Arts Program, BIS Abu Dhabi are thrilled to be welcoming Ms. Salla Saarikangas, Juilliard Dance Specialist, to the school on 17th and 18th October.

The Holy Month of Ramadan is expected to commence on Saturday 27th May 2017, subject to moon sighting. We would like to announce our school timings during Ramadan 2017 will be 8.15am – 1.45pm, with FS collected at 1:30pm.

Thanks to all parents who completed our Parents Survey last term and all those who regularly come into school to discuss their children’s education. Your ongoing communication and support for the school is greatly appreciated. The results of the Parents Survey are extremely useful for us in terms of confirming what is going well at school as well as highlighting the next stages of development.

BIS Abu Dhabi would like to invite current and prospective parents to our IB Workshop on Wednesday 19th April 2017 (evening session) 6pm - 7pm and Thursday 20th April 2017 (morning session) 9am - 10am.

At BIS Abu Dhabi we like to focus not only on what children are learning, but also on how they are learning. This term we have introduced learning dinosaurs ‘The Achievosaurs’ in our Early Years classes, which are based on the characteristics of effective learning from the EYFS framework.

BIS Abu Dhabi are thrilled to be welcoming two Juilliard Alumni artists, Abby Gerdts (an actress) and Dr. Benal Tanrısever Simsek (a pianist), to the school on Monday 6th March.

We are extremely proud to be hosting the BSME U11 Games at BIS Abu Dhabi on the 2nd – 4th March 2017 and would love to share this fun-packed weekend with you and the family.

We are delighted to announce that as part of Nord Anglia’s innovative collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), four BIS Abu Dhabi students have been selected to travel to MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts USA, to participate in the MIT - Nord Anglia STEAM Festival. The Festival is a week-long programme which provides unique learning opportunities specifically for our students at one of the world’s leading educational institutions.

Calling all BIS artists… welcome to this year’s visual arts competition! Students at BIS Abu Dhabi, along with the Nord Anglia Education network of schools, have been invited to take part in creating art inspired by one of the winning Creative Writing Competition entries. Selected artworks will be published in the Creative Writing & Visual Arts Anthology 2016-17.

As a school with an international reputation, plus part of Nord Anglia Education, we are able to attract some highly experienced and talented teachers to join our team. In addition to this, it is then crucial that the ongoing professional development of our teachers is of the highest standard. Our teachers then continue to learn as part of BIS Abu Dhabi, remain at BIS Abu Dhabi and can offer more to their classes for many years to come.

Preparations are well under way for this year’s National Day Family picnic which promises to be another exciting whole school family event. BIS Abu Dhabi families are invited to attend the picnic which will be held between 12.00pm – 4.00pm on Thursday 24th November 2016.
