Mitch Miller joins BSB Shunyi with experience in both education and business. Before becoming a teacher, he spent more than ten years working across private equity, consulting and entrepreneurial ventures in the technology, mining, infrastructure, food and health technology sectors. As a founder, co-founder and senior executive, he held responsibility for operations, marketing, sales, fundraising, business strategy, market entry and communications.
He also volunteers with Entrepreneurs Without Borders, a Stockholm-based social enterprise that supports entrepreneurs and start-up businesses in underserved communities around the world.
Mitch holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, specialising in Entrepreneurship, from Chapman University in California, as well as a Master of Education in Educational Technology. He also holds a Washington, DC teaching licence. With more than ten years of classroom experience, including four years teaching the IB Diploma Programme, Mitch has taught IB Economics and Business Management, alongside IGCSE and MYP business-related courses, at international schools in Beijing.
Mitch draws on practical examples to help students understand how economic ideas and business decisions operate beyond the classroom. His lessons are carefully structured and provide regular opportunities for students to apply key concepts. He also has extensive experience supporting students with Internal Assessments, Extended Essays and business projects.
At BSB Shunyi, Mitch looks forward to helping students strengthen their subject knowledge and become more independent in their thinking. His commercial background allows him to connect classroom learning with the decisions made by entrepreneurs and established organisations.
