Moving up to secondary school is an exciting milestone, and at BIS Hanoi, we ensure your child feels supported every step of the way. Our bespoke transition programme begins in Year 6 and includes engaging taster days, where students join lessons, meet their future teachers, and receive guidance from current Year 7 students. These experiences help your child feel confident, prepared, and excited for the next stage of their learning journey, building a sense of belonging before their first day.

KEY STAGE 3

Key Stage 3 is a time for discovery and growth. Through a broad range of subjects and co-curricular activities, your child will explore their interests, build confidence and independence, and develop a strong sense of who they are. As they begin to think about their future, they’ll explore potential career paths and gain the skills and experiences that prepare them for success. By the end of Year 9, they’ll be ready to choose their IGCSE subjects and take the first step toward specialisation.

IGCSEs

The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) allows your child to personalise their learning journey. Alongside core subjects such as English, Mathematics, Science, and a first language, students select additional subjects that reflect their interests and ambitions. They also continue to develop essential skills through P.E., wellbeing, global citizenship, and ways of learning. Culminating in the IGCSE exams at the end of Year 11, this internationally respected qualification provides an excellent foundation for success in the IBDP and beyond.

IBDP & BIS Hanoi Diploma

In BIS Hanoi Sixth Form, your child can choose between two respected pathways: the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) or the BIS Hanoi Diploma. In the IBDP, your child studies six subjects of their choice alongside the core, which builds research, essay writing, critical thinking, creativity, and community engagement; skills valued by top universities worldwide. The BIS Hanoi Diploma offers greater flexibility, allowing your child to select individual IB courses. Both pathways prepare students for success at universities across the globe.
