KEY STAGE 3 CURRICULUM
Our Years 7 to 9 students follow the English National Curriculum at Key Stage 3, designed to nurture curiosity, confidence, and a genuine love of learning. Your child will explore a broad range of subjects, guided by dedicated teachers who encourage independence, creativity, and self-belief. These are the years where potential takes shape, building the strong academic and personal foundations that prepare your child to thrive in IGCSE and beyond.

SECONDARY PATHWAY TO SUCCESS

DISCOVER KEY STAGE 3
At the British International School Hanoi, Key Stage 3 is when curiosity deepens, and possibilities expand. Your child will dive into subjects that challenge how they think, explore new ideas, and begin to connect their learning to the wider world.
They’ll analyse Shakespeare, master Python coding, design and 3D-print their own assistive device and explore global economies.
Through a broad and balanced curriculum, they’re encouraged to question, create, and think critically, building the foundations for success in IGCSE and beyond. Supported by passionate teachers and a nurturing environment, your child learns who they are and what excites them about the world.

At BIS Hanoi, our approach to assessment in Key Stage 3 reflects our belief that learning is about both academic achievement and personal growth. Grounded in the IB Learner Profile, our ‘Ways of Being, Thinking, and Doing’ framework helps students build strong knowledge, transferable skills, and character, developing the curiosity, resilience, and empathy that define truly well-rounded learners. Assessment takes many forms throughout the year, from group projects and research tasks to creative work and formal exams, giving a complete picture of your child’s progress. You’ll receive clear, transparent updates that highlight their strengths, growth, and areas for development, helping school and home work together to support every stage of their learning journey.

EARLY UNIVERSITY & CAREER GUIDANCE
At BIS Hanoi, university and career exploration begins early. From Year 7, students start to discover what inspires them; the subjects that spark curiosity, the skills they enjoy developing, and the possibilities that lie ahead. Through lessons, clubs, and leadership opportunities, they’re encouraged to try new things, reflect on their experiences, and grow in confidence. These moments of discovery help them understand not just what they want to do, but who they want to become. By the time they reach Year 9, they’ll have a strong sense of their interests and strengths, allowing them to choose their IGCSE subjects with confidence and the full support of our university guidance team.
