Outstanding results achieved by our IB Diploma students for the 2019/20 academic year.

Patrick will attend the University College of London, known affectionately by its initials, U.C.L. Patrick will join one of the most famous names of universities in England to study Mathematics with Economics.

Xing has the honour of being the first student of Léman to have been offered a place at one of the world’s most famous universities.

What a week it has been here at school!  We are busy, especially now that all of the new ways of working have become normal, and I am pleased that the students have adapted so quickly and completely.  It is magnificent to see the majority of our students back here on campus, and we can’t wait for the return of our remaining children.

On Tuesday, Léman celebrated the Grade 12 students’ graduation ceremony at the Shangri-la hotel in Chengdu. It was a fantastic event and we are all very proud of all of the students’ achievements, not only academically but also their contribution to all areas of school life. The graduating class of 2020 have shown resilience, commitment and dedication throughout the IB Diploma programme and it was a real honour to recognise and celebrate their success.

A brief update from me this week, as I look ahead to a day of interviews at OTOS, the Nord Anglia annual recruitment event. Hiring the very best teachers is our priority and with this in mind I have been speaking with a number of highly experienced and motivated candidates to see who will join our team next year.

It has been a week to celebrate success here in school. Our Volleyball teams joined our Basketballers in winning their respective tournaments.

Léman International School takes the MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) every year in Grades 3-9 in fall and spring.

Léman International School Chengdu (LIS) held its 10th Anniversary Reception at the Fairmont Hotel in the evening of September 17, 2019. This is a very special day as we had our Grand Opening Ceremony this very day 10 years ago.

Premium international schools group Nord Anglia Education offers a transformational education to students, which focuses not only on ensuring academic success but also on inspiring students to positively impact their individual communities and the world at large. As part of Nord Anglia Education’s collaboration with UNICEF, students across the globe have been raising awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through projects at their schools. The SDGs are a collection of 17 goals set by the United Nations regarding social and economic development issues. Each year, the capstone event with UNICEF is when students from Years 10-12 visit New York for the NAE-UNICEF Student Summit. MUN provides students with an opportunity to learn about formal debate procedures, research and current international issues with a focus on United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Number 4 (Quality Education) and Goal Number 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions).

Last week marked the first opportunity for Léman International School (Chengdu) to host a Nord Anglia Global Games event, with the U15 Volleyball Tournament.

We were graced by Juilliard’s top-notch choreographer Ms. Hilary Easton who has been a faculty of Juilliard since 2012 where she teaches dance composition.
