HOW WE TEACH

My family and I made the exciting decision to relocate to Suzhou in 2019, and it has been an incredible journey ever since. Living in China has opened up a world of experiences for us, and we’ve truly embraced the vibrant culture and rich history of this beautiful country. In 2020, I returned to teaching as an ESL teacher at a local kindergarten in Suzhou, where I worked with Pre-Nursery and Nursery age children for two enriching years.

Driven by my belief in lifelong learning, I returned to university in 2022 to pursue a Postgraduate Certificate in Education. This experience deepened my understanding and enhanced my educational practice, bringing me to Suzhou Singapore International School where every day, I continue to grow alongside my students; because true education is indeed an adventure. 

I love to inspire children and my classroom is a creative, nurturing space that encourages individuality and supports uniqueness. Through hands on activities, imaginative play and collaboration we work together to create a sense of belonging that builds self-confidence in every child.

I respect each individual child’s needs, interests and learning styles. With a comprehensive understanding of the children’s stages of development, individual learning needs, and engaging teaching skills, I can provide quality play-based and inquiry-based learning programme to support children achieve whole-child development.

I am committed to providing children with a safe, nurturing and holistic learning environment, combining international teaching and child-centred learning. I have a strong passion for Early Years music and movement and enjoy incorporating this into the classroom to maximise individual learning potential.

In my spare time, I enjoy singing and watching movies. I love travelling around and especially enjoy being at the beach and watching the sunset!

I love working with children. Every year, I look forward to welcoming new families and children, inspiring the young children and helping them not only discover, explore and create but to foster a love for learning and develop life-long skills and dispositions.

I believe children learn best when they feel safe, valued, and happy. I enjoy creating a warm and nurturing classroom environment through storytelling, singing, dancing, sensory play, and hands-on learning experiences that encourage creativity and exploration.

Alongside my classroom teaching, I have led Behaviour Management training sessions within the school and worked as a Makaton ambassador to support inclusive communication in Early Years. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in English Education and Teaching, and over the years I have continued to develop my knowledge and understanding through further Early Years training and professional practice.

I am also passionate about learning different languages and cultures. Last summer, I attended a Japanese language course at university, and over the years I have picked up some basic German, Hindi, and Korean whilst working in our international school community. I have found that using even a few familiar words in a child’s home language can help them feel more comfortable, secure, and settled at school.

Above all, I hope to create a classroom where children feel happy, secure, and excited to learn, whilst building positive memories and a strong foundation for their future learning journey.

As a dedicated member of the BSB Shunyi community for the past six years, I have served as both a substitute teacher and a long-term cover teacher across various year groups. Over the last three years, I have been an integral part of the Early Years Reception team, where I have built trusting relationships with young children and developed deep familiarity with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, curriculum expectations, and developmentally appropriate teaching and assessment practices.

My teaching style is calm, nurturing, and child-centred. I am committed to creating a safe, engaging, and supportive environment in which every child feels confident, valued, and inspired to explore. I look forward to continuing to support young learners as they grow, discover, and develop a lasting love for school.

One of the most memorable parts of my journey so far was working as an au pair in Australia. It combined two things I love: working with children and travelling. That experience really sparked my interest in working internationally, which eventually led me to BSB Sanlitun.

I’m now heading into my eighth year at BSB Sanlitun, where I’ve worked across both Early Years and KS1. I’ve loved being part of an international school community, contributing to the development of early education and meeting so many lovely families. Living in Beijing has been an incredible experience, I’ve enjoyed exploring China, meeting new people, and learning about the culture. I’m really excited to be continuing my role as Head of Early Years, where I'm able to share my passion for Early Years education and help ensure every child gets the very best start in their learning journey.

As an energetic and patient educator who integrates learning with activity, I’ve bonded well with my students in and out of the classroom; whether aiding them on the playground or the comprehension of literature. I strive to assist students in achieving their goals, by creating an inclusive and encouraging learning environment, that is full of interaction, creating activities and lesson plans that engage them. I believe it is integral to aid young students in developing morals and life skills, which help them blossom into critical and ethical thinkers.

Out of the classroom I am an avid cyclist and badminton player, not to mention, a lover of different types of cuisine from different cultures. Continuously building on my international cookbook collection. I look forward to meeting the young minds and sharing in their learning journey.

I have seven years of teaching experience and have spent the past six years teaching in Doha. During this time, I have enjoyed working with young learners and supporting them as they develop confidence, independence and a love of learning. Living and working in Qatar has also given me the opportunity to experience a rich and diverse culture, meet people from around the world and enjoy everything the city has to offer.

I am now looking forward to beginning a new chapter in Beijing, where I will be relocating with my little apricot Toy Poodle, Millie. I am excited to immerse myself in Chinese culture, learn more of the language, explore the country’s history and traditions, travel to different regions and experience its renowned cuisine.

I am particularly excited to be joining The British School of Beijing, Sanlitun and becoming part of its welcoming and successful community. I look forward to working in Early Years, creating engaging learning experiences and helping children develop the confidence, curiosity and skills that will support them throughout their educational journey.

With a wealth of experience and a commitment to fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and curiosity, with children at the forefront, I hope to make a meaningful impact on all my pupils.

Outside of school, I am a dedicated lifelong learner. Currently, I am pursuing my National Professional Qualification for Headship and embarking on a Masters degree in Education. I also enjoy the high-speed rail system in China that can take my youngest daughter and I away from the city for weekend breaks. We love to explore different cities and regions together.

I have taught in many different countries, the most recent being Thailand and Malta and I have taught all different ages, but my passion lies in the Early Years. 

I gained my QTS with Sunderland University and trained as an IB, PYP teacher whilst working in an IB school in Bangkok. I have been in Beijing now for 3 years and beyond the classroom, I love exploring, going to the gym, rollerblading around Chaoyang Park and fostering animals. I currently have a little kitty called Dumpling. 

Through my teaching, I strive to create inclusive learning environments where every child feels valued and empowered to thrive. I look forward to continuing my journey at BSB Sanlitun. 

After teaching in London, I moved to China, and I have enjoyed teaching here for 9 years in Beijing. Within the 9 years, I have taught at The British School of Beijing, Sanlitun for 5 years as a Year 1 class teacher. Working in international schools in China has been a great opportunity to learn different teaching methods, especially for children who have English as an additional language.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy travelling and exploring. I’m very interested in learning about different cultures, so I have visited numerous cities in China and many other countries in Asia. I am really looking forward to continuing my journey as a Reception Class Teacher here at The British School of Beijing, Sanlitun. I hope it will bring more amazing experiences and opportunities to become an even better educator.

My practice is rooted in creating inclusive, engaging learning environments where teaching is carefully adapted to meet individual needs and behaviour is managed to support positive relationships, engagement and progress. I place real importance on oracy as a foundation for building children’s confidence, communication skills and academic success. 

I am passionate about broadening pupils’ cultural capital and supporting them to become articulate, reflective learners ready for a global future. Outside of school, I enjoy visiting the various hot springs around Beijing and exploring the spa culture too.

Growing up in Scandinavia, I had the privilege of learning through play, spending much of my childhood exploring and playing in the forest. These experiences have greatly shaped me as a teacher and reinforced my belief in the importance of creating a nurturing, engaging environment that inspires confidence and curiosity. I strongly believe that every child should have opportunities and experiences that allow them to flourish while developing positive relationships with others. Above all, I hope the children in my class learn the importance of being kind and thoughtful citizens of the world.

In my free time, I enjoy listening to music, drawing, and exploring different parts of the world with my two children.

With over ten years of international teaching and leadership experience, I am passionate about creating inclusive, child-centred classrooms. I believe in building strong relationships, inspiring a love of learning, and empowering children to become confident, reflective learners.

Alongside my teaching role, I am the school’s EDIB (Equality, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging) Lead and have a particular interest in metacognition and learner ambition, including developing character-based approaches that help make learning behaviours explicit for younger children. I have also completed the NPQSL, further strengthening my understanding of leadership and school development.

I am excited to bring my enthusiasm, experience and collaborative approach to the vibrant community at BSB Sanlitun.

I believe in creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom where all children feel valued, respected, and confident to take risks in their learning. Building positive relationships with students is very important to me, and I strive to create an environment where children feel happy, supported, and excited to come to school each day.

Outside of the classroom, I enjoy playing music and  creating crafts. I find these activities support my own wellbeing and mindfulness, and I enjoy incorporating this into my classroom. I love to travel and learn about new cultures, meet new people and try new things. 

I am excited to begin my international teaching journey with the team at BSB Sanlitun and to become part of such a vibrant school community. I look forward to getting to know my students and their families and sharing a wonderful year of learning, growth, and discovery together.

This year, I have thoroughly enjoyed my role as Inclusion Lead and I’m excited to take on the position of Assistant Head of Pastoral and Inclusion next year. My goal is to help ensure that BSB Sanlitun is a welcoming place where every child feels safe, valued and supported, with the opportunities and guidance they need to thrive. One of the things I love most about our school is its strong sense of community and I’m proud to play a part in helping it continue to flourish.

Outside of school, travel is a huge part of my life. I love exploring new places, experiencing incredible landscapes and meeting people from different cultures and living in China provides so many amazing opportunities to do just that. When I’m not travelling, you’ll often find me playing in a local flag football league here in Beijing, reading a good book or spending time near the water. Whether it’s swimming, snorkelling or kayaking, I’m happiest by the sea!

I’m incredibly excited to be leading the fantastic Year 2 team next year and creating classrooms where children feel confident to learn, grow and enjoy every day, as well as building relationships with families so we can work together to make each child’s experience at BSB Sanlitun a happy and successful one.

Over my time here, I have had the privilege of serving as a Year Group Leader for five years, Assistant Head of Primary (Core Curriculum) for one year and as Head of PE for two years. Teaching so many fantastic children with a genuine love of learning has made every lesson a rewarding experience.
 
I believe that learning is a lifelong process, and I am always eager to develop my skills and knowledge. In addition to my undergraduate degree, I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Leadership from the National University of Ireland Maynooth, which supported me in taking on various leadership roles. Additionally, I earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management from the Institute of Public Administration in Dublin. In 2021, I completed the Nord Anglia Middle Leadership Programme, further enhancing my leadership abilities.
 
In my free time, I enjoy staying active by going to the gym and playing tennis here in Beijing. I am also an avid Liverpool FC fan, which has occasionally meant waking up at 3am to watch live matches! I love to travel, and living in China has given me the incredible opportunity to explore places I never dreamed I would visit.

However, my early exposure to schools and teaching inspired a deep-rooted passion for education and child development, leading me to begin my teaching career at a large International School in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy drawing, painting, and staying active through gym workouts, hiking, and running. As a lifelong netball player, I’m excited about the opportunity to join a team sport in China.

My classroom is an inclusive space that fosters creativity, curiosity, and a love for learning. I strive to inspire students to discover their passions while challenging them both academically and personally. I look forward to keep exploring Beijing’s rich history and being an active member of the BSB Sanlitun community.

In 2022, I assumed the role of Maths coordinator at BSB Sanlitun, in which I have led workshops for staff and parents related to how Maths is taught at BSB Sanlitun. This year, I will continue my role as Year 3 Leader and I’m excited about leading a team and collaborating with my fellow colleagues to make an unforgettable year for the children.

Living in China has been a once in a lifetime opportunity that I have wholeheartedly embraced. It is a unique country with a unique history and so much to see and do! I have been lucky enough to travel around China and visit numerous places. My favourite so far has been the ‘Avatar Mountains’. I am looking forward to visiting the rest of South East Asia and beyond over the coming year.

My sporting passions include playing badminton and tennis. I am also a huge football fan and support Liverpool, the city I am originally from. In my spare time, I have also started to write my own songs (sadly I am no John Lennon) and I am developing ideas for comedy TV show!

In England, I taught across KS1 and KS2 in an outstanding school and successfully embedded the mathematics mastery approach. Mathematics is a subject I am very passionate about and my lessons provide opportunities for children to work collaboratively and apply their skills in real-life contexts. I aim for all of my students to become independent and resilient learners who always show kindness to others.

I come from a small town in Northern Ireland and my love of other cultures and languages encouraged me to teach English in countries throughout Europe and Asia. I also enjoy going on trips and residentials with students and previously led a Year 8 exchange trip to India.

In my spare time, I enjoy travelling, reading and playing the piano which is why I am particularly excited about Nord Anglia’s collaboration with The Juilliard School. At BSB Sanlitun, I also embraced the role of Wellbeing Lead because I believe that every child should feel safe, happy and valued at our school. I have two young children who also attend BSB Sanlitun and they love it! After thoroughly enjoying my time in Year 2, I am really looking forward to working in KS2 once again.

In 2023, my family and I returned to Nord Anglia, joining the British School of Tashkent. During this time, I taught Year 3 and served as Phase Leader for Lower Key Stage 2. I am particularly proud that our most recent school inspection recognised KS2 as an outstanding area of the school for the first time. Alongside this, I have led whole-school Digital Innovation across both Primary and Secondary since January 2025.

I am now delighted to be moving to Beijing to continue my journey within Nord Anglia at the Sanlitun campus. Teaching Year 3 promises to be an exciting experience, as we explore topics such as plate tectonics, volcanoes and earthquakes, fractions, and further develop pupils’ reading and writing skills.

In my role as Assistant Head for Academics, I look forward to supporting and celebrating high-quality teaching and learning across the school. Having achieved the NPQSL (National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership) in 2025, I’m confident I can add value to the school in this role. Outside of school, I am a proud father of three young children, with my two eldest joining BSB Sanlitun in the Primary and Early Years. In my spare time, I enjoy playing and watching Gaelic football, playing squash, and following my beloved Manchester United. My family and I are excited for what our new adventure in China will bring.

My teaching philosophy centres around the belief that children learn best when they are having fun. By creating an engaging and enjoyable classroom environment, I aim to foster a love for learning that will stay with my students throughout their academic journey.

Outside of the classroom, I have a passion for martial arts and enjoy training in both boxing and Muay Thai. This hobby not only keeps me fit but also teaches me discipline, perseverance and the importance of setting goals – values that I strive to instil in my students.

I am looking forward to a wonderful year ahead, filled with exciting learning experiences and growth for all of us.

Returning to the UK, I completed my Primary PGCE at the University of Wolverhampton and spent four rewarding years as a Key Stage 2 teacher in a UK Primary School, where I also led Computing, always looking for creative ways to make learning engaging through technology.

In 2019, my family and I embarked on another adventure, this time to Suzhou, China. Before joining BSB Sanlitun in 2025, I taught at Dulwich College Suzhou as a Junior School Class Teacher and Ed-Tech Lead, blending my love for education with my enthusiasm for tech-infused learning.

Now, I’m thrilled to be continuing my journey at BSB Sanlitun. The opportunity to contribute to such a vibrant community, while exploring life in Beijing with my wife and two daughters, is very exciting. When I’m not teaching, you’ll likely find me exploring local food spots, planning our next family trip, or playing with new ed-tech tools.

My post-college education began at Cardiff Metropolitan University in Cardiff and I completed my PGCE at Buckingham University. I have a strong passion for sports, Mathematics and creating a welcoming and supportive environment for all students.

I am delighted to be joining BSB Sanlitun as a member of the Year 4 Kangaroos class.

Throughout my time at this school, I’ve also had the opportunity to lead subjects such as Art, Learning Support, and Phonics, which has allowed me to develop a well-rounded understanding of student needs across various areas of the curriculum.
 
In addition to my teaching roles, I am passionate about sports and am currently part of a team for flag football, football, and softball here in Beijing. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, traveling, and spending quality time with my two rescue dogs, Hugo and Ollie, who I adopted from local animal charities. 
 
I’ve always had a passion for Art and English, which I would say are my favourite subjects to teach, and I enjoy helping students explore their creativity while developing strong writing and communication skills. My goal is to inspire my students to embrace learning and grow both academically and personally, creating a positive and supportive environment in which they can thrive.

I was born in Devon, England and lived there for most of my childhood although have also lived and attended school in Singapore. Additionally, I spent six months living in France as part of a language development/exchange programme.  This has helped me to become culturally adaptable, resilient and aware of some of the challenges that pupils may face in various circumstances.

I have always been interested in how people learn and apply knowledge and enjoy seeing the excitement that children experience as they discover new knowledge and ways of expressing their thoughts. I believe that teaching is more than just imparting knowledge—it involves motivating learners to ask deep questions and creating a safe and stimulating environment, which allows deep thinking to happen.

When not working in school I enjoy travelling, visiting new and interesting restaurants and playing squash.

Next, I moved to Malaysia where I worked in a government programme as a mentor to primary teachers in rural Malaysia to improve both their teaching skills and English proficiency. It was an amazing experience where I didn’t just mentor, I learned so much about my own teaching and had the opportunity to also learn from so many teachers and to teach many kinds of learners. Then, I moved to the UAE and worked as a Curriculum Specialist for the Ministry of Education. I learned so much during the 7 years I worked there but I missed being a classroom teacher. It made me realise that it was time to get back to the classroom.

I am passionate about teaching and learning and I hope to inspire my students to love learning too. I strive to make learning relevant and interesting for my class. I make sure that students feel safe, comfortable, and actively involved in the learning process. Each unique learner is given the opportunity to grow and excel when under my care.  

I have loved my three years teaching Year 5 and Year 6 at BSB Sanlitun. I am excited about continuing to work as the Science specialist teacher—the lessons will be full of interesting investigations and fun experiments. 

When I’m not teaching, I love to travel and experience new things with my family, and I am excited to continue exploring all that China has to offer. 

I worked for six years in central London primary schools working with diverse communities. I loved working in these environments and gained a lot of experience and understanding of different cultural backgrounds. During my teaching career, I have led humanities and have led a year group, which has given me good leadership qualities and an understanding of how to work alongside and collaborate with my colleagues to provide the best education for children.

During my time as a primary teacher, I studied for my graduate degree and obtained an MA in European History from Birkbeck University. I have a passion for history and enjoy being able to study different countries’ histories and various time periods. I am particularly keen on Italian Renaissance History and the impact that this had upon modernity. I love to bring history alive in the classroom and get people excited to study and learn about the past and its impact on our own lives.

Apart from my love of studying history, I really enjoy being able to go to various museums and art galleries. I also really like attending the theatre with my friends and watching musicals. I am a passionate rugby fan, supporting the Harlequins, and watch as many of the matches as I possibly can. I also enjoy being able to watch and play tennis. I love to go for long walks and hikes in nature to really unwind and recharge and I am always reading.  

My journey with NAE began in 2013 when I first joined The British School of Beijing (BSB), Sanlitun, as an IMPS violin teacher. Instantly captivated by the school’s vibrant programme, outstanding reputation, and profound impact on students and the wider community, I transitioned into a fulltime role as a Music Teacher and Choir Conductor a year later.

When NAE launched its groundbreaking collaboration with The Juilliard School in 2015, I eagerly immersed myself in this innovative programme, which uniquely integrates Music, Dance, and Drama into the curriculum. My dedication and leadership in performing arts were recognised in 2021 when I was appointed Head of Performing Arts at BSB Sanlitun. In October 2022, I was honoured with an award and certificate of excellence by the Regional Managing Director of Nord Anglia International Schools in China, celebrating my long-standing service, commitment, and contributions to the school community.

I have a MA in Music Pedagogy (Dip. In Music Education) from the University of Arts in Belgrade. I also successfully completed full-time B.Ed studies in Theory of Music at the same university. My first steps in overseas, international teaching career started in October 2006, in Sydney, Australia.

I have been working at BSB Sanlitun since 2019. In 2021 I joined the Performing Arts department. In April 2026 I have completed my Juilliard K-12 Accomplished Teacher course and received the certificate.

My passion for music began at an early age. At the age of 4 I started learning and playing piano and accordion, and at 6 I enriched my musical journey by entering ballet and traditional dance classes.

I enjoy teaching students using a developmental Orff approach that combines music, dance, drama, and speech. The method utilises a four-stage learning process: imitation, exploration, literacy, and improvisation. It aligns well with BSB Sanlitun strategies and the “child-centred” approach to learning. I love seeing my students engage in creating their own music and dance. I also appreciate the opportunity to collaborate with Juilliard specialists from New York and deliver their lessons through well-planned units of work.

Outside of school, I love going to the theatre and watching dance performances. I also enjoy meeting up with friends to make music and dance together.

I hold a Masters of TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). I am a dedicated, innovative teacher who strives to provide a safe, caring and challenging student-centred learning environment. I believe that every child learns uniquely and ‘mistakes’ are steps on our path to knowledge.

I am also a mother of two young children which gives me the perspective of both parent and educator.

I am a lover of stories, people and art but my true love is travel. As a global citizen, I have spent my life dabbling in learning different languages. I have studied Greek, Italian, French and Chinese to varying degrees of proficiency. I love language and believe cultivating a love of books and stories is a fundamental way to impart language, spark imagination and build confidence in young learners.

This is my fifth year teaching at BSB.

I had been a Class Teacher at BSB Sanlitun for three years and this year (my fifthth year) I will be continuing on with the EAL team again. Prior to BSB Sanlitun, I taught for one year in Shanghai and nine years in Beijing at different international schools in different districts. Before moving to China, I taught in Las Vegas, Nevada at a Title I School. I have taught a wide range of students from different ages, Year 1 - Year 5, and from many different cultural backgrounds.

In my classroom, you will find a positive, fun and engaging environment. I am always continuing my professional development by learning new ways to engage and excite students about learning and developing the whole child.

Outside of school, I love exploring Beijing with my dog, her name is Noodles. Noodles is a great travel buddy around Beijing and the best-behaved pug you will ever meet. I am passionate about travelling and love learning about other cultures especially food! I love to eat and try new dishes!

BSB Sanlitun is a great place to develop professionally and am looking forward to a great year and continuing with the EAL team!

Before joining BSB Sanlitun, I had over 11 years of experience working with children in various roles across nurseries and schools. My students had a wide range of ages. I truly enjoyed every moment spent with them, watching them grow and being a part of their journey.

I believe teaching children is one of the most rewarding things in the world. Seeing them make progress and move forward step by step has been the most fulfilling part of my career. I firmly believe that students can learn language more effectively through meaningful activities and well-designed teaching methods.

Outside of school, I enjoy reading and staying active through sports. As a lifelong learner, I love trying new things. I also have a strong passion for traveling and hope to explore more of the world with my family in the future.

I then joined BSB Sanlitun in 2013, and have earned over a decade of experience at the school, first teaching and building the programme and subsequently becoming the Head of German. I love working in an international school as it allows me to bring my teaching ideas to life with an incredibly creative and diverse group of students with different cultural backgrounds.

The challenge of teaching a language was always attractive to me and I find it very interesting to work with different students, because each group needs to be taught in a unique way and has completely diverse targets. I love my job, have many teaching ideas and I like creating new resources and games for children. The students like to say, ‘Frau Song liebt die Kinder.’ In my spare time I like to sing in a choir, make mosaic art and travel around China. I also like to learn about new cultures and new cuisine, but sharing my love of foreign language, especially with children, will always be my biggest passion.

Before joining BSB Sanlitun in 2022, I spent 8 years working at two different international schools in Beijing gaining valuable experience teaching English as a second language to children whilst also building long lasting relationships and creating great memories along the way. What I love most about teaching is how self-rewarding it feels to see your students grow and develop to not only reach their goals, but then go one step further.

Outside of school, apart from spending time with my wife and two children, my biggest passion is football and supporting the mighty Newcastle United Football Club in the Premier League and Champions League. I also currently run and organise the China International Football League in Beijing which consists of both men’s and women’s leagues for adults and has over 800 expat players involved.

With over a decade of experience as a sports coach, beginning at the age of 16, I have been dedicated to working with young athletes. This extensive involvement has enabled me to gain invaluable expertise across various sporting disciplines, as well as to cultivate the ability to design dynamic and engaging environments that optimise students' learning outcomes.

Beyond my professional commitments, I enjoy playing football with friends and supporting my lifelong team, Manchester United. I also have a keen interest in watching a range of sports, including boxing, MMA, and tennis.

I gained a Bachelor of Food Science and Engineering in Beijing in 2005. After that I furthered my study in the UK and received a Master’s degree. It was there I got my first experience assisting in a primary school as a volunteer. I was attracted to the British education system, because of the big comparison between my own experiences in China and how this differed.

After moving back to Beijing I decided to start my career in an international school. I obtained my Chinese teaching certificate and psychological consultation qualification. I hope my efforts can help every child to thrive in their childhood.

During my spare time, I enjoy cooking with my young daughter and having fun with art and craft activities, whether food related or not.

As a teacher teaching Chinese as an additional language, I’m particularly happy to see the children use what they’ve been learning outside the classroom. It’s always the highlight of my day when hearing my students speaking in Chinese to cleaning ayis, kitchen staff and even helping younger students in their bus lines. That makes me feel so proud as a teacher. In addition, I’m a firm believer that teachers are lifelong learners who are constantly growing and evolving. Our school is full of professionals who are in the midst of taking courses, participating in professional development sessions, and earning degrees. It’s almost impossible to stagnate because there are always new things to be learned. Keeping up with new research, data, and trends requires a dynamic approach and an adaptable mind, so boredom about teaching is defiantly out of the question!

In my spare time I believe the most important action you can take is to not only seize every opportunity to try new things, but to make opportunities for yourself. I love anything creative, and I am always looking for new skills to pursue and develop. Like diving, archery, tufting and any upcoming new experiences!

I graduated from Beijing Foreign Studies University. Before joining BSB Sanlitun, I taught all levels of students from different countries and cultural backgrounds for more than 8 years, which helped me to get a better understanding of cross-cultural communication.

I believe every child is unique and I am passionate about motivating every child in learning Chinese language and culture. I try my best to help children to experience Chinese culture as much as they can, as culture is an integral part of language.

During my spare time, I like reading. I am interested in cooking and travelling. I also like practising Chinese calligraphy.

Before joining BSB Sanlitun, I had six years teaching experience in international schools and local schools. I love working with children and believe that every child is unique. I am passionate about using different learning strategies so that every child enjoys learning how to speak Chinese and is able to experience Chinese culture to the best of their abilities.

In my spare time I enjoy watching films, reading books, cooking and travelling. I am enjoying living with my husband and daughter in Beijing.

I am a lucky person because I have been able to do a job that I love to do for so many years. When I was looking for a new challenge and wanted to further my career in teaching, joining The British School of Beijing, Sanlitun definitely gave me the opportunity. It makes me happy to see the children improve their Chinese day by day and I do hope children enjoy learning Chinese in my class.

Cooking and tasting delicious foods are my favourite things to do. Spending time with my family also brings me happiness.

I choreographed a sports performance for over 1,000 students, led morning PE sessions and taught multiple subjects. Witnessing the children’s natural joy inspired me to pursue further study to become a more capable educator.

In 2016, I completed a master’s degree in dance studies at the China National Academy of Arts and then joined The British School of Beijing, Sanlitun  as a teacher. Working in a British school environment gave me valuable exposure to Chinese and Western cultural exchange and supported my professional development. I firmly believe that teachers should remain positive and passionate, focus on nurturing children and develop authentic personal charm that pupils can readily connect with. I take great satisfaction in seeing children learn happily.

In my spare time, I enjoy short weekend trips to the countryside with my husband and two sons. I love camping, hiking and discovering new places. I share my home with a Yorkshire Terrier, a rescue cat and two birds who are beloved members of my family, and I cherish the time I spend with them.
